WHO WE ARE AS A MINISTRY
To begin, we are a ministry built upon the Biblical & Baptist convictions of church history. As a community of students, we are a ministry that recognizes that true life is found only through a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. To that end, we labor to make His Gospel known on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. We pray that this website will give you a glimpse of what The Lighthouse is about and that it will help you connect with other like-minded students at SEMO. Ultimately, It is our prayer that you would come to know and grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ during your college experience.
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
We believe that the Gospel, or the Good News about Jesus Christ, is the message that God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to save His people from their sins. Jesus is the second Person of the Trinity, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, who lived a sinless life in order to accomplish a substitutionary atoning death for sinners. His bodily resurrection & ascension into heaven guarantee the salvation of those who trust in Him. His perpetual intercession for His people, His personal, visible return to earth to judge the living and the dead, and His promise to make all things new in eternal glory, are the hope of the believer.
​And we believe that unless a person comes to Jesus Christ through repentance and faith in this Gospel, they cannot be saved.
